THE 2007 RACE WAS THE FIRST YEAR FOR THE BEAT THE GRANDMA 5K... ALTHOUGH "THE GRANDMA" DIDN'T WIN HER RACE THE RACE WAS FUN FILLED AND CHALLENGING. NANCY BUNKLEY WAS THE FIRST OFF THE LINE WITH A 12:30 HEAD START AND SHE GAVE A GALLIANT EFFORT HOLDING THE LEAD IN THE RACE UNTIL THE LAST TURN! IT TOOK SOME OF MICHIGAN'S BEST AGE GROUP ACES TO CATCH HER AND IN THE END IT WAS DENNIS GRANTZ BREAKING THE TAPE AND SETTING THE NEW COURSE RECORD STANDARD TIME TO BEAT OF 14:42. GREAT JOB TO ALL THE RUNNERS WHO HUMBLED THE HIGH SCHOOLERS WHO FOUND A NEW RESPECT FOR THE OLD TIMERS.
